I wish they had put fine print in every baby book I read…
Or perhaps a huge bulletin board outside of each birth class we attended…something along the lines of
“We know you’re doing everything to prepare for this small human. We would like you to know NOTHING is going to go as planned and everything you didn’t expect to happen, will!” 😂
I was prepared for the sleepless nights, the cluster feedings, the physical pain, and the wash of emotions that were going to flood our household but the first two nights at home were tough! Berlin would wake up every 45 minutes. He hated his bassinet. My husband and I were up til the sun rose trying to soothe him. That’s 48hours of fussiness mixed with rollercoaster of emotions from two new, very inexperienced parents. You begin to feel like you’re failing and are pulling out all your notes those baby books swore by. Day 3 we pulled out the MamaRoo. Ten minutes later we had a brand new baby. He rocked for ten minutes and dozed off to the sounds of the rain the MamaRoo played. 15 minutes later when we put him in his bassinet he was asleep for FOUR HOURS! A much needed break for us sleep deprived parents. I couldn’t believe it. No where in the baby books did it say “If swaying your baby doesn’t work…if he doesn’t like the rocking chair…if what you’re doing isn’t working, pull out the MamaRoo.” Well here I am folks! Three weeks postpartum with a baby that is now sleeping 4.5 hours after he has a little time in the MamaRoo. I don’t know what it is, magic? There’s a reason why so many recommend it. We use it when we need our hands free or to prep our baby for a nap. So when three in the morning rolls around and our little one is fighting his sleep, dad secures him in the Mamaroo, mom’s on the couch, I pick up my phone hit the Kangaroo setting on 4 and the Rain sounds on 3 and our little one is relaxed. He’ll fuss for about a minute before getting distracted by the high contrast black and white mobile. As those eyes get heavy we cue the Rain Sounds and a few minutes later it’s lights out!
I’m still new to this mom thing, but I love it and although I swore to myself I was going to take a 3 month break from writing I had to share! If this can help another sleepless mom out then my job is done! Thanks for reading babes!
All my lovin’,
4moms is running an awesome sale just in time for mothers day. I left the link above.
Looking for a new spot this weekend? Bisou, Clé Groups newest concept, has quickly climbed to the top of Houston’s Hottest New Restaurants. Located in the River Oaks Shopping District, Bisou merges fine dining with a luxe nightclub experience.
With the infamous “It was just a kiss” neon sign at the entrance, lights covering the room, and the DJ playing all your upbeat favorites it’s hard not give in and let loose. Paved with marble tiles and plush velvet seating, Bisou’s interior design is all around jaw dropping. Matte gold cutlery, contemporary lighting fixtures throughout the restaurant, and Instagram worthy mirrors in the restroom entrance that you and your girls will just HAVE to get a photo in front of.
We took a tour of the menu that left us absolutely speechless. I’m a normal southern girl so calling my palate “limited” is a huge understatement, not to mention French Cuisine has always been intimidating to me.
We started with pork belly dumplings glazed with ginger sauce . The chef said it was slow cooked for about 6-8 hours and oh my god you guys,it had to be the best pork I’ve ever tasted. We tried the beet salad, if you’re not a fan of beets try it anyway, something about the citrus of the blood orange paired with their goat cheese moose that was unlike anything I’d ever had before. The Lobster Bisque was probably the best I ever tasted but my absolute favorite dish was the lobster beignets. They’re out of this world.I couldn’t indulge in all the fresh sushi, which was probably the hardest thing I’ve done so far in 2019, but I did enjoy their lobster sushi roll. It was fresh and absolutely delicious so when we go back that’s definitely a re-order.We finished the appetizer section with the Yellowtail Sashimi and Pan Seared Foie Gras. The servers were amazing at explaining what each dish was and being ever so patient with me when I asked (at least four times) if I was pronouncing “foie gras” correctly 😂.
In the midst of tasting all of Bisou’s goodness the lights were gradually dimming and the bottles with sparklers were starting to fill the room. By about 9pm the DJ pumped up the bass and the party was in full swing. Chef Frédéric Perrier was kind enough to stop by and give us a little more insight on the restaurant as well as his favorites on the menu. With 40+ years in the industry and an impressive restaurant lineup that includes Aura and the ever-so- trendy 51Fifteen in Saks. When I asked him for his personal favorites he suggested the Wagyu Tartare Bites and the Escargot. Chef Frédéric described Bisou as an experience who saw their food getting progressively better. Well said,Chef!
Bisou was an experience, indeed and the food was outstanding. I was completely blown away.We can’t wait to go back and experience Bisou’s Brunch. If you haven’t stopped in to Bisou yet, I would highly recommend it. It’s the perfect date night, girls night, or regular Saturday night to unwind and you’ll never know who you’ll see in there. I don’t want to name names but if it’s good enough for “Clyde the Glide” it has to be hall of fame worthy 😉.

I’m not sure what I love most about October. The Fall weather, the excessive pumpkin patch photos on Instagram, or the fact that the holidays are just around the corner 🙈. If only this lovely weather didn’t come with dry hair, flaky skin, and some serious nasal congestion.
When I started using the Crane Drop Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier I was hooked! Within three days I noticed a significant improvement in my skin, hair, and congestion. I’ve tried humidifiers before and while they worked great, they were such a hassle to have. They were bulky which made it difficult to refill, hard to clean, and don’t even get me started on the noise they made. I had given up on humidifiers all together until I came across Crane. Talk about a game changer. This chic humidifier and I have a really great thing going on. I don’t have to mess with filters and the humidifier doesn’t mess with my sleep. That’s right folks! This humidifier runs whisper quiet for up to 24hrs and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. Our family is growing and as the nesting process begins so has my anxiety for keeping our home clean and purified. I love my fur baby, but keeping our condo spic and span is a struggle. It can easily get stuffy and covered in pet dander so a high quality humidifier is just what we needed. Crane’s line of humidifiers are not only trendy, they’re extremely efficient. All we need is one to effectively humidify our space. A clean home and refreshed skin in the morning? Yes please! I’m really excited about this product and I just had to share with you guys.
I’ll leave the link below in case you’re interested and if you have any questions I’m here, as always.

Looking for a good stay-cation spot in Houston? Well look no further because Hotel Alessandra has quickly captured the hearts of endless amounts of Houstonians. This recently opened hotel is located in the heart of downtown right next to the Greenstreet shopping center, a hop and skip away from the Toyota Center, Discovery Green and all of the best Houston attractions. Hotel Alessandra is the perfect blend of modern luxury and southern comfort. The moment you valet it’s goodbye normalcy and hello to the good life. As you head to the second floor to check-in, take a moment to admire the hotels chic aesthetics. The ultra luxe staircase paved with gold detail, is absolutely breathtaking! I’d pay good money to retake my prom picture on that staircase 😂(half kidding). Every furniture piece is detailed with gold accents and pops of emerald green. If Z Gallerie and the Royal Palace did a collab, this is what their furniture would look like 😂.
The rooms are just as dreamy. Panoramic views of the city, a luxurious overhead shower, perfectly placed accent furniture to get your Carrie Bradshaw moment on 💁🏼♀️,plush pillows, and the worlds most comfortable bed. Honestly, what more could you ask for? A rooftop pool perhaps? Well you’re in luck because on the fifth floor your oasis awaits. Take a few hours out of your day and do absolutely nothing. Work on your tan, order some truffle fries and don’t forget their famous Pop-tails! You heard it folks, POP-TAILS! I tried the tequila sunrise. A popsicle infused with top shelf tequila, orange juice and grenadine. What better way to cool off in this Texas heat than frozen alcohol and truffle topped carbohydrates?
When you live in a city this big it’s easy to caught in the hustle and bustle. When’s the last time you explored downtown? Between the misleading parking signs, traffic and it being so ever-changing we forget to get our Dora the Explorer on. Well shine up your dancing shoes kid, because we’re going out for a night on the town. Hotel Alessandra has a complimentary valet service that you can call ahead of time right from your room. We stayed on a Friday night when the hotel was busy, but the valet service was more than accommodating. A short 10minutes later we hopped in our luxury car and were off to Frank’s Pizza for a quick bite. The driver hands your a card with their phone number and when you’re ready to head back to the hotel they’ll pick you up within ten minutes. It’s perfect and oh-so convenient! Once you’re all spiffed up for the night, stop in the hotels bar on the second floor. Bardot has a great selection and it’s open until 2am on Saturday.
Hotel Alessandra has so much to offer!Whether you’re looking for a spa day, a date night for you and bae,or a night on the town with your girls, they can happily accommodate you. The staff was superb! Anything we needed they were happy to assist with. From the moment we walked in it was all smiles and southern hospitality so it’s safe to say that you get the full luxury experience here.I will definitely be coming back. I’m a simple humble girl from Texas, just like you but the second I rested my head on that type of thread count I was hooked😂. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we did! It definitely made it on my “favorites” list!
Huge thank you to Hotel Alessandra and their PR team for the collaboration and as always, all opinions are my own. I love you guys! Thanks for reading
