So it’s 2019. New year, new you, new resolutions and yet you still haven’t set up the blog you’ve been saying you’re going to start for the past two years. No shade, that was me three years ago. Can you guys believe it? 3 years since I quit my job and started my journey?
One of the most asked questions I get is “How?”. “ How did you do it and where did you start?
For starters I stopped talking myself out of it. I stopped focusing on all the things I lacked and started to focus on my strengths. My biggest excuse was my website and my photos not being instagram worthy. I’m not tech savvy whatsoever so when it came down to designing a website companies could take seriously, I had to bring in professional help after multiple fails of doing it myself. Turns out it wasn’t as expensive as I thought and once my website looked professional my confidence grew a thousand percent to where I felt comfortable to approach big companies. Hands down, best investment I made and I would highly recommend doing this with any new venture you plan on making money off of.
Small businesses, bloggers, any services you can provide, INVEST IN A WEBSITE. Your website is your portfolio. If you’re really looking to turn your writing into a profitable business or at least a hobby that pays well, you have to put some effort into your website and up your photography game. To this day I have not invested a penny in lighting or an over the top camera. I have an entry level Canon and a Sony for quick photos that can quickly be transferred to my my phone. That’s it! Don’t go down the YouTube rabbit hole of thinking you need hundreds of dollars in equipment to get started. That’s not the case whatsoever. I’ll list companies I’ve personally worked with since the beginning and I can honestly say
This is what took me from a part-time blogger to a full-time writer.
I’m always here to answer any questions. The days of us doing free content need to be left in 2018. Lets start taking this seriously. Let’s stop posting “This is my year” , surfing the internet for inspo, over analyzing what we should be writing and scrutinizing ourselves to the point of discouragement. I’ll link my references below. This is me giving you that loving kick in the ass you need to get motivated and stay there! Thanks again for reading!
